About Al-Jawā’ib
In 2004, after months of research, I discovered the first 99 issues of Al-Jawā’ib at the Atatürk Kitaplığı Library in Taksim Square, Istanbul. The newspaper was published by Aḥmad Fāris al-Shidyāq starting in 1860. I scanned these issues and made them available for research.
Other scattered later issues can be found at the Oriental Library and American University Library in Beirut. The complete collection is available at the University of Chicago Library on microfilm (two reels, $400 USD each as of 2004). In February 2026, the Oriental Library at Saint Joseph University in Beirut announced it had acquired the entire collection, available for consultation in their 1875 reading room.
